ASA on HCR39

(June 18, 2013) – The American Sugar Alliance (ASA) voiced its support today for House Concurrent Resolution 39 which calls for a “zero for zero” strategy in eliminating world subsidies and government support for sugar, including here in the U.S.

ASA called the legislation “a dramatic cease-fire of sugar subsidization” and urged Members of Congress to add their names as co-sponsors of the bill.

“Simply put, foreign subsidies have gotten out of hand, and if we’re ever going to have a free market in sugar, we must do something about it,” ASA Chairman Ryan Weston said in a press release issued today.
