(May 23, 2013) – While some conservatives are pushing for an amendment to the current farm bill to revise the nation’s sugar policy, a conservative argument can be made that there is no free market when everyone’s not playing by the same rules.
With that in mind, Citizen Outreach has sent a letter to Members of Congress and staffers on the Agriculture Committee urging support for a “zero-for-zero” proposal in which the U.S. sugar industry would give up government support programs here in return for the elimination of government subsidies of foreign sugar production in Mexico and abroad.
